Case Coloring – We are proud to announce that we are now offering in-house case coloring and annealing service to both the trade and customers. Using traditional bone and wood charcoal hardening processes we can achieve both excellent surface hardening as well as fantastic colors. Slow Rust Bluing – Traditional slow rust bluing is the preferred method to achieve a rich black finish without risking damage to a set of double gun barrels.
Charcoal Bluing – Charcoal or Carbonia bluing is a traditional technique to achieve a high polish blue/black, typically seen in fine English guns Colt Single-Actions and Colt Automatics. This finish can be seen as a deep glossy black or a pale blue black depending on the finish quality.
Nitre Bluing – Nitre bluing is typically reserved for screws, pins, and other small bits on a rifle or gun. First a high polish is achieved, then the parts are soaked in a bath of heated salts to achieve color ranging from bright electric blue, deep purple, or straw colored. This is an excellent finish to bring a custom project to life with colored accents or is called for in a truly authentic restoration.
